ABOUT LYNN SHANK

Lynn Shank works with families on a daily basis in situations that are often “crisis driven”. As the co-owner of Texas Assurance Care and a Certified Senior Advisor, she has many years of experience in the field of aging. These have taught her that families often avoid sharing information on personal financial, health, and potential problems, until a critical moment arrives. Lynn feels a deep sense of compassion for aging adults and their family members who are doing their best to help with financial or health issues - often with very limited information.”

Lynn has over a decade of participation in the Centers for Medicare National Train the Trainer program and is a trusted resource for individuals and professionals seeking information on Medicare and senior insurance. In an effort to raise awareness on Medicare, long-term care planning, and family communication on aging issues, Lynn develops and conducts educational classes for individuals and health care professionals in and around Austin and Central Texas.

In her new book, “Help! My Parents Are Aging (and I Don’t Know What To Do)”, Lynn offers guidance and practical steps to eliminate barriers to family communication on aging and other issues. A series of related workshops is being planned for 2011 which are designed to help adults better understand senior benefits and services and develop tools for engaging family members in supportive and non-threatening conversations on aging topics.

Lynn’s problem-solving expertise won national recognition from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in the form of the first ever Samaritan Award presented by the Society for exemplary service to seniors.
